History

1999

James Stenhouse our founder proposed developed and commercialised the first auto-cascade water vapour cryopump to be entirely CFC and HCFC free. He sells his interest in Applied Thermal Control Ltd an innovative manufacturer of precision temperature controllers for the scientific and technical manufacturing sectors to fund the development of the technology. Ten years later the system is still a technology leader.

2000

Stratox founded – Recognising HCFCs based systems supplied by the major (US based) manufacturers of cryopumps would be soon banned in Europe. Stratox developed a complete line of F Gas compliant (HCFC / R22 free) refrigerants for ultralow temperature refrigeration systems. Stratox has applied for a patents on a new generation of F-Gas compliant blends. In the last decade, we have supplied hundreds of refrigerants charges across the globe for use in many diverse applications.

Telemark Cryogenics is founded to exploit auto-cascade technology within vacuum coating field with Telemark Inc.

2003

Stratox develops precision water cooling and filtration system for the new cut to polish generation of precision optics generators.

2005

Joint venture dissolved and Telemark carry on manufacture of Stratox designed TVP cryopumps

2006

We complete design and installation of large cryo-coil to for a new detector at CCLRC Rutherford’s ISIS synchrotron. Cooled by S-10 technology SX4000 (Stratox design) over 45 meters of coil and lines are cooled to -130oC. Compact auto-cascade system developed for environmental testing

2008

Design and feasibility study for very large vapour trapping and solvent recovery project for major life science equipment manufacturer.

Stratox ends the supply of HCFC based refrigerants 2 years ahead of the F-gas deadline.

2009

Conversion feasibility of existing systems to meet F-gas regime started, testing of drop-in solution mixed and highly dependent on original equipment design. Further development of protocols proves successful demonstrating reduced energy consumption in converted systems with no loss of performance.

2010

Stratox offers a complete F-Gas compliance support package, which involves the complete remanufacturing of non-compliant (mainly Polycold) systems to bring them into compliance with the latest F Gas standards saving users thousands of Euros and allowing them to operate existing plant indefinitely.

2011

New line of compact ultra low refrigeration systems aimed at the electronics and bio-medical field will be launched.
